30 - Day Trapping Apprenticeship Program

 

Are you a new trapper ? Or maybe an experienced trapper looking to learn some new skills? Are you considering a move to northern Canada or Alaska, or starting a nusiance trapping business?  If so then this course is for you. 

 

Our trapping apprenticship program is designed to give you the skills you will need to safely and effectivly run a true wilderness trapline. We believe experience is the best teacher, and the length of this program ensures you will get the experience you need. Owner David O'Farrell will be your instructor for the duration of this program. His 30-years of experience trapping in the far north ensure you get quality instructions. 

 

During this course you will learn such things as:

 

Trap selection.

 

Eqipment maintinance.

 

Fur Handling.

 

Trapline management. 

 

How to make proven sets for beaver, otter and mink, ( both open water and under ice sets.)

 

Make and maintain winter sets for lynx, wolf, wolverine, and marten. 

 

This program takes place on our Toobally Lake trapline. This is a remote trapline located in the fur rich area of the southeast Yukon. This course runs from October 15th, through November 15th, of each year. This program does NOT take place in a classroom. Students will spend their days out on the land making sets, and checking traps. We only take two students each season so early booking is advised. 

 

Prices are $2850.00 per person, and include all transportation to and from Whitehorse Yukon Territory, all meals, and housing.
